Clinics We Offer
Chronic Disease Clinics
Our nursing team run chronic disease monitoring clinics including asthma, chronic airways disease, coronary heart disease and diabetes.
Counselling Service
We have a trained counsellor working in the practice. All referrals to this service are made either by self referral with a receptionist or with the GP after consultation. Not all mental health problems are appropriate for counselling.
Dietician
A dietician is available following consultation with your doctor or nurse for specialist assessment of dietary needs. This will include all diabetics and those in need of dietary supplements.
Minor Surgery
We have been commissioned by the Clinical Commissioning Group to provide minor surgery. Your doctor will be able to advise further.
Podiatry
Treatment will be given to patients who have an underlying medical problem or a severe problem that affects their feet, regardless of age. Priority is given to high risk groups such as those with diabetes, circulatory problems and rheumatoid conditions.
You may now self refer – you will need to contact the surgery to collect a referral form.
Please note that this service does not treat verrucas.
Treatment Room Services
The treatment room staff carry out routine nursing tasks by appointment after the patient has been seen by the doctor. These include wound care and ear syringing. Specialist clinics run by the District Nurses also take place in the treatment room (e.g. leg ulcer clinics). Appointments can be made by either telephoning 01706 235417 between 09:00 and 17:00 or alternatively using the internal telephone outside the treatment room.
Women's Health
Breast Screening - You will not receive pre-arranged appointments, but you will receive a letter. From this you will need to book an appointment by calling or e-mailing the Breast Screening Office on 01282 805301 / breastscreening@elht.nhs.uk
Cervical Smears - Please contact the surgery on 01706 605115 to arrange your smear appointment, or to discuss any concerns that you may have about smear testing. The smear test will be taken by one of our experienced female nurses. If you have ever had a swab taken the test is similar to that. It may be a little uncomfortable but will not hurt and only takes a few minutes.
Other Health Issues - Advice on gynaecological problems, family planning including coil removal, breast problems, menopause and any other aspects of women’s health needs. Various appointments – please ask at reception.
